BOLTING EQUIPMENT

Click a link below for more information on a specific tool category.

  • Hydraulic Wrench
Best general bolting tool. The hydraulic wrench is probably the most versatile, small (fit) and cost effective method of torqueing large nuts. It is effective for both breakout and make-up of bolts.
  • Tensioners
Best for making or coming together with a flange or case. Known as the fastest and most accurate method for make-up.
  • Consoles & Porta-Power Units
Hydraulic pumps provide the accurately regulated pressure to the tools. Commonly, Slect-A-Torq™ tools require 5,500 psi console, hydraulic wrenches require 10,000 psi console, while tensioners and nut splitters require 20,000 psi. console.
  • Nut Runners
Fastest method for setting nuts and turning them down to a very high target load. Otherwise referred to as "continuous rotation" tools. This tool does not ratchet and is faster than the hydraulic wrench.
  • Nut Splitters
Fastest method of breakout. Nut splitters can dismantle large bolting applications in a fraction of the time it takes with any of the above methods and is intrinsically safe. Destroys the nut, saves the stud.
  • Torque Multipliers
Mechanical multipliers are the lease expensive method of turning large nuts. However, they are slow.
  • Impact Wrench
Fast but inaccurate. This is the most common bolting tool in sizes 1/2" to 3-1/2".
  • Clicker Torque Wrenches
Small bolting wrenches that click or vibrate when a desired load is achieved.
  • Sockets
Quality Ozat and Proto sockets up to 9-1/8" in a 3-1/2" drive size. Slugging Wrench
Quality Ozat and Proto slugging wrenches up to 9".
  • Lubricants
Lube makes a big difference in which tool you'll need. For example without lube, a 3" stud at 50% yield would have a torque value of 37,670 foot pounds. If Hydratight Sweeney molypaste is used (f=.06) the torque drops to 6738 foot pounds.
  • Clench Wrench
Is an adjustable backup wrench that fits nut sizes from 1-11/16" to 2-15/16".
  • Calibration
Torque testing equipment for calibrating your torque tools. Also, dead weight calibrators to test your torque testers.
  • Bolt Safe
Computerized load reading washers that serialize each bolt, measure temperature, read the load between the two nut faces and generate computerized reports.
  • Ultrasonic Bolt Scope
Ultrasonic bolt load and stretch equipment utilizing transducers that send and measure a signal.
  • Flange Spreader
Hydraulic spreaders that easily move flanges apart.
  • Flange Pullers
Hydraulic pullers that pull flanges together.
